Editorial Policy

Purpose

MSMN News is the digital newsroom of Martins Studio Media Network. We publish news briefings, explainers, and original MSMN reporting on the public magazine at https://msmnnews.com. This policy describes how we source, verify, edit, label, and correct that work.

A human editor is responsible for whether an article is published. AI-assisted production tools, where used, do not remove that responsibility. See the AI Disclosure.

Accuracy

1. Accuracy comes before speed. If a claim cannot be reasonably verified, MSMN holds it, qualifies it, or does not publish it.

2. Names, dates, figures, titles, and quotations must be checked against reliable sources before publication.

3. Headlines, excerpts, and social captions must reflect the substance of the article. MSMN does not use sensational headlines the body does not support.

4. Developing stories are labelled when facts are incomplete. Updates that change meaning are timestamped on the article page.

5. MSMN does not publish fabricated events, statistics, sources, experts, interviews, or quotations — including text invented by an AI tool.

Sourcing and attribution

1. MSMN attributes third-party reporting. When a story is based on another publisher's work (for example a trade outlet), the article is a news briefing with a visible source label. It is not exclusive original MSMN reporting unless independently verified facts are attributed to MSMN News.

2. Source names and reference links are disclosed where applicable, including a News briefing / Source note on sourced roundups.

3. MSMN does not present another publisher's article as original MSMN reporting by rewriting it and omitting the source.

4. Primary sources (official statements, filings, on-the-record comments, public data) are preferred when reasonably available. Secondary reporting is identified as such.

5. Staff must not plagiarize or misrepresent sources.

Verification

1. High-impact claims should be supported by primary sources or reputable reporting.

2. Meeting a word-count target is not a substitute for verification or originality. If a story cannot support useful, verified depth, MSMN should hold, consolidate, correct, or not publish it.

3. Articles must not be published automatically from feeds or tools without passing MSMN editorial controls and human approval requirements.

Independence

1. Editorial judgment is independent of advertising, sponsorships, affiliate partnerships, and directory listings.

2. Sponsored or paid content is labelled Sponsored and separated from independent editorial judgment.

3. Conflicts of interest should be disclosed. Commercial relationships do not dictate news judgments except where content is explicitly labelled Sponsored.
